Paint that performs on every pitch
For more than three decades, Selectline has been developing premium marking paints for every type of surface — from natural grass to hybrid pitches and artificial turf.

Natural
grass
Living surface – grows and changes with
seasons.
Needs regular watering – sensitive to dry periods.
Maintenance required – mowing, fertilizing, aeration.
Feels natural – preferred by many players for comfort and performance.
Variable conditions – paint must adapt to wet or dry grass.

Hybrid
grass
Combination of natural grass reinforced
with synthetic fibre.
More durable than natural grass — resists
wear from intensive play.
Needs less maintenance compared to full
natural grass, but still requires care.
Popular choice for professional stadiums
and high-profile tournaments
Withstands heavy use and changing weather
better.

Artificialgrass
100% synthetic surface — consistent all
year round.
Low maintenance — no watering, moving, or fertilising required.
Feels less natural but ideal for multi-purpose
facilities.
Extremely durable and weather-resistant.
ensuring reliable performance every season.

A narrower line needs a lower nozzle, while a wider line requires raising the nozzle slightly to get full, even coverage.

You can use your existing machine if it meets the minimum pump pressure of 3 bar (45 PSI) and uses the correct nozzle.
What are the advantages of pump machines?
Pump machines ensure steady pressure and consistent spray quality, which helps you achieve clean, even lines every time.

Let’s mark a pitch. Here’s your
step-by-step guide.

Mix your paint well
SKIP if using Ready-to-use paints!
Proper mixing is key to smooth, consistent lines. Make sure your paint is perfectly blended before use. Uneven mixing can cause patchy results or nozzle clogging.
How to mix your paint correctly
-
Shake the can before opening — this helps loosen settled pigments.
-
Pour the paint into a clean mixing bucket.
-
Use a stirrer or drill attachment to blend thoroughly for 1–2 minutes.
Make sure the mixture looks smooth and uniform, with no thick or watery areas. -
Check the consistency — it should flow evenly without lumps or air bubbles.
-
Mix only what you need for the marking session to keep the paint fresh.
Tips for best results
Use the Selectline Stirrer — it attaches easily to a battery-powered drill and mixes the paint evenly without splashing.
Always stir again if the paint stands still for more than 10–15 minutes.
For concentrated paints, follow the recommended mixing ratio on the label (e.g. 1L paint + 4L water).
Common mistakes to avoid
Don’t just shake the can — shaking alone won’t blend the pigments fully.
Don’t pour paint directly into the machine before stirring.
Don’t overmix — 2 minutes is enough; excessive mixing can create air bubbles.
Why this step matters
Properly mixed paint ensures:
-
Even coverage on every line
-
No nozzle clogging or interruptions
-
Consistent color from start to finish

Fill your machine
Filling your machine properly ensures smooth paint flow and consistent line quality. Whether you use a Roll Liner, Selectliner, or an autonomous robot, this step helps you prepare your system for perfect results — without waste or clogging.
How to fill your machine correctly
-
Check that the tank or bottle is clean and dry.
Remove any leftover paint or rinse water from the previous marking. -
Pour evenly-mixed paint slowly to avoid air bubbles or foam.
-
Use a paint filter or sieve — this keeps dirt and small particles from entering the system.
-
Fill only what you need for your session (typically 10 L per pitch).
-
Close the lid securely before moving or starting the pump
Different machines, different approach
-
Pour the paint directly into the roller tray on top of the machine.
-
Make sure the roller is clean and evenly soaked before starting.
-
Avoid overfilling — the tray should be about two-thirds full for optimal roller coverage.
Selectliner / Easyliner (pump systems):
-
Pour the paint into the original Selectline can that fits into the machine’s holder.
-
Once filled, install the can into the machine and make sure the hose is properly connected.
-
Prime the pump for a few seconds to fill the system and remove air bubbles.
TinyLineMarker Sport / TinyLineMarker Pro X (autonomous GPS robots):
-
Robots only use Ready-to-use paints!
-
Simply install the 10 L can into the robot’s paint compartment using the built-in connector — no mixing, pouring, or filtering required.
-
The system automatically handles paint pressure and flow.
Tips for best results
Clean your machine with Selectline Cleaner before refilling — it prevents blockages and keeps the pump healthy.
Keep a funnel or cloth handy for accidental spills.
Always filter concentrate paints before pouring.
Avoid filling in direct sunlight — heat can cause paint to dry inside filters.
Common mistakes to avoid
Don’t fill over old paint residue or rinse water.
Don’t skip filtering — even small particles can block the nozzle.
Don’t overfill — leave space for proper flow and air pressure.
Why this step matters
Proper filling ensures:
-
Steady paint flow and consistent lines
-
No interruptions or clogged nozzles
-
Longer pump and nozzle lifespan
-
Less cleaning and paint waste later

Prepare your pitch
SKIP if your old lines are still clear enough to follow.
Before you start spraying any lines, make sure your field layout is ready and accurate. This ensures straight lines, correct dimensions, and less time correcting mistakes later.
Tips for best accuracy
Always measure from the goal centre, not the posts.
Keep ropes tight and low to avoid curves.
Double-check your diagonals — equal = perfect rectangle.
Use bright temporary spray dots to keep corner points visible.
Work with a partner — one measures, one holds the rope.
If you’re working alone, fix one end of the tape with a peg — it keeps the line straight while you measure.
Common mistakes to avoid
Skipping diagonal checks = uneven corners later.
Loose ropes always mean wavy lines.
Measuring by eye — even a small offset grows across the field.
Not securing pegs — they can move if kicked or mowed over.

Before you begin
Good marking starts before the first spray — if the grass, weather, and setup are right, your lines will always look clean.
Weather and surface
-
Don’t mark in rain, frost, or strong wind — the paint won’t stick properly.
-
The grass should be dry and freshly cut for best results.
-
Avoid painting in direct sunlight on very hot days — the paint may dry too fast
Safety and personal protection
-
Wear protective gloves and eyewear when handling paint.
-
Avoid contact with skin and eyes — even eco-paints can irritate.
-
Keep paint and equipment away from children or pets until lines are dry.
-
Ensure your machine path is clear — remove obstacles and debris.
Field setup check
-
Make sure all ropes, pegs, and markers are in place and tight.
-
Recheck measurements and diagonals one last time.

Mark your pitch
Follow the sequence shown below — it’s the most efficient and professional way to mark a full-size football pitch.
Work smoothly from START to FINISH, following the numbered order on the diagram.
Tips for best results
Keep a steady walking pace – consistent speed gives even coverage.
Spray only on dry, short grass for clean, sharp lines.
Mark into the wind where possible – it prevents overspray.
Wipe the nozzle if you pause for more than a few seconds.
Overlap old lines when re-marking keeps them bright longer.
Common mistakes to avoid
Don’t start without a test spray – it causes uneven flow.
Don’t walk too fast – paint will look thin or broken.
Don’t turn corners sharply – it makes wobbly or splattered edges.
Don’t spray on wet grass – paint won’t bond properly.
Why this step matters
Proper marking technique ensures:
-
Straight, professional-looking lines every time
-
Even paint coverage across the entire field
-
Less paint waste and fewer corrections later
-
Faster re-marking for future matches

Clean & store
Once your lines are finished, take a few minutes to clean your machine and store your materials properly.
This keeps your system running smoothly and ready for the next marking session.
How to clean your machine
-
Empty any remaining paint from the tank or bottle.
-
Fill the system with Selectline Cleaner or clean water.
-
Run the pump or roller for 30–60 seconds to flush out all paint.
-
Remove and rinse hoses, filters, and nozzles thoroughly.
-
Let all parts dry before reassembly.
Storing your paint
-
Seal all opened containers tightly to prevent drying.
-
Store in a dry place, protected from frost and sunlight, at 5–30 °C.
-
Never leave paint or rinse water inside the machine overnight.
-
Label partly used cans clearly for the next marking session.
Tips for best results
Clean your equipment immediately after use — don’t wait until the next day.
Flush until the water or cleaner comes out completely clear.
Keep a bucket and cloth handy during cleaning.
Check hoses and fittings while cleaning — it saves time later.
Common mistakes to avoid
Leaving paint in hoses or tanks — it dries and clogs the pump.
Using water only — it won’t remove dried paint residue.
Storing paint in freezing or hot places.
Forgetting to clean the nozzle — causes uneven spray next time.
Why this step matters
Proper cleaning and storage ensure:
-
a longer lifespan for your machine and nozzles,
-
steady flow and spray quality every time,
-
less downtime and fewer maintenance costs,
-
and no wasted paint between sessions.
